Our Date Night!

This was our second date night here in Korea since we've had the babies. I get excited all the hours leading up to it because it's so rare that we get to go out ALONE!

We didn't do anything big, just dinner and a possible movie. We ate at this place called Italy & Italy. All our friends have gone there, so we tried it out. It was just eh. Cute plate, but we weren't impressed by the food.

However, they baked our pizza in the shape of a heart!

We walked around downtown and planned on seeing a movie. We were hoping to see Valentine's Day(the movie) or Brothers (Jake Gyllenhall) or even Dear John! But... none of those were playing. Avatar was sold out.

So we just walked around more and ran into these people giving away free hugs! I've seen youtube clips before of people like this. It's cute. Jason asked what they were doing. I believe these groups of people who offer free hugs are just for peace and happiness. It's sweet :) Jason didn't want to hug strangers though lol. Hope they didn't give me swine or anthrax!

We came home around 9:00... lol... we tried to make the night last as long as we could. We're such partiers.

Applying for a job..

It's so complicated to apply for a job working for the government. In addition to your resume comes 7 or 8 different forms to fill out plus a copy of your ID and passport! I've been applying for a few, but haven't had any luck yet. In the beginning, when Jason and I discussed what I would do about staying home with the babies, we decided I'd stay home for the first few years and focus on being a stay-at-home mom and going to school. Well, needless to say, our circumstances have changed and I'd like to get a job if I can here in Korea, or definitely one in Germany this summer. Just part-time for now.. nothing full-time unless it's worth it!

As we end with January, we're welcoming February with Jason's promotion to Sergeant! (Pictures to come) as well as a fun birthday party that the kids went to.
...and I'll be taking a short trip to Japan in March for something very exciting!! But you will just have to wait to hear about it!! :) :) :)

These are the certificates and Award I won in the 2009 Army Digital Photography Contest, Korea Region.

I've been assistant coaching this awesome cheerleading time! The Daegu Spirit Allstars. They are a great group of girls and boys. This was one of their performances and we have a big one coming up this Saturday that we've been practicing for!

Wednesday Night Love & Promotion

I am so glad the new television seasons are starting again! Wednesday night is our new-found favorite night. Why? Because of the first season of Glee! Yes, I know we are behind on shows in Korea...you don't have to remind me. In fact, we are so behind, that we are just getting the second seasons of Grey's Anatomy and Lost.. (lol if you watch either of these you will know how FAR BEHIND WE ARE HERE)

And also the NEW season of American Idol!!

After dinner with the babies, we'll sit down on our couch and watch our vices. Then the babies have their last sippy cup of milk at 8:30, and at 9pm it's time for The Jay Leno Show!

Jason and I have slowly been making that a routine every night.. and we just realized that. If we miss out on Jay, we get angry because it's our one thing that we both like to watch and get a good laugh in. I really do enjoy the line up with Jay on his own show, then Conan doing The Tonight Show, but so much for that! Guess we'll be having to make a change in our line-up.

I've also declared Wednesday as our Ben & Jerry night in addition to our favorite shows. lol now I know THIS is not a good habit, but why not enjoy the good things in life, eh?!

Besides television Wednesdays, Jason is soon-to-be SGT Wilgus! He is getting promoted on Monday to E-5, Sergeant. This has been something he has WORKED HARD for. The points are high and he's had to do a lot of work to earn them. It's finally paying off and I am proud of him. He has already gone out and bought his sergeant rank for his uniform :) I knew he was just DYING to do that! I'll post pictures of his promotion ceremony. They are having it in the motor pool where he currently works, and also where I used to work! How fitting :)

[my handsome husband at Warrior Leaders Course, a 30-day field training he had to endure and pass to help get promoted to Sergeant]

Oh and we recently received our first letter from our sponsored-child in Zambia. Her name is Kethrine. We've been sponsoring her for a little under a year now, but this was the first time I got to see her drawings and hand writing. It was beautiful and it just made my day. I have it posted on our fridge. [picture coming soon]

Recent Happenings

The babies celebrated their first birthday at Little Bear. We brought along their friend Madison (and mom Rebecca) and they had a great time.

We took the babies to Seomun Market for the first time. I do not recommend going there with a double wide stroller. VERY difficult to walk through the tiny aisles. We do enjoy getting out with them, even if it is so much work just to prepare them to go somewhere. It's really cold outside, too. I can't wait till the spring when the weather is nice enough to take them on walks again. Jason and I used to walk EVERY night in the fall after he got off of work. We'd eat dinner and then put the babies in the stroller and walk around post or outside the gate. Then it started getting dark at 6pm! So dark we couldn't even see much outside, then it got real cold.

We went to Love and Hope Orphanage to spend time with these beautiful children who are handicap. The babies had fun playing with them, too.

Happy 1st Birthday, my babies!!

Can you believe my babies are already one year old?!?! I can't! They were born January 15, 2009. It was a Thursday evening. 7:37pm Leila made her appearance and 7:38pm Jonah came screaming out after. i was 37 weeks when I had them. Leila just has to be first all the time! Wanna know something funny? Earlier that day before I gave birth to them, Jonah was the one on the bottom, so he would have been first to come out. But at the last minute, Leila just had to push him out of the way and be first.

Leila is walking now. Jonah is still crawling around. He's almost there. They like to "sing" and mumble. They can say mama, dada, and baba. They both make each other crack up, it's so cute. They want what the other has. Leila still steals Jonah's snacks after she's done with hers. They clap their hands, play peek-a-boo, respond to their name and come to me when I call them.

It's so neat to see my little babies grow and learn to do new things.

Their very first picture!! In my belly at 6 weeks

The only thing I can think about right now..

is how to help our brothers and sisters is Haiti. Please, friends, if you can find it in your heart to donate what you can to an organization to help Haiti, such as the American Red Cross, please do so. I'm thinking of how I can help more..
